In humble submission to the will of God we announce the earthly transition of Betty Jean Ray. The Visitation will be held Friday, June 21, 2024 in the mortuary from 4:00PM-7:00PM. The Celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 22, at 11:00AM in the Summerville Missionary Baptist Church, where she held membership, Bishop Michael T. Guerin, pastor, officiating. The Interment will be held immediately following the service in Edgewood Cemetery.
She was employed by St. Vincents Medical Center Riverside with 36 years of dedicated service. Betty leaves a legacy to be cherished by her husband, Robert L. D. Ray, Jr.; son, Robert L. D. Ray, III (Sonya) all of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Ranisha Ray of Jacksonville, FL, RaS'ean Ray (Kelsey) of Pensacola, FL, Ronnell Ray (Rebecca) of Jacksonville, FL; great-grandchildren, Rylee Darden, Rashaad Ray both of Jacksonville, FL, expected twin girls, Aarynn and Avaree Ray of Pensacola, FL; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Melvin Dennis (Elizabeth) of Miami, FL, Harold Dennis (Phyllis) of Jacksonville, FL, Anthony Ray (Marbeth) of Atlanta, GA, Vivian Turner of Jacksonville, FL , Etta Jean Ray Pittman (Herman) of Atlanta, GA; goddaughters, Sharieka Briggs, Angela Kearse both of Jacksonville, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
