In humble submission to the will of God, we announce the earthly transition of Edward Charles Taylor, Sr. on July 2, 2026.

The visitation will be held Friday, July 17, 2026, the day of service, from 12:00PM until the hour of service and celebration of life will be held at 2:00PM both in the Rosa Glover Holmes Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Edward Charles Taylor was born on June 8, 1951, in Jacksonville, Florida to Ernest Taylor and Pearly Fossett Taylor.

He attended and graduated from Eugene J. Butler. He later met and married Bonita McCoy. He was employed by Peoples Gas with 15 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Church of Christ where he served as a faithful member under the leadership of Pastor Lionel Williams.

He was known by many for his nickname “Shorty T”, a jack of all trades. He enjoyed fishing and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Pearly Taylor; and his brother, Nathaniel Taylor.

He leaves memories to be cherished by his children, Lisa Baker, Rhonda Harris (Roderick), Edward C. Taylor, Jr., Derrick D. Taylor (Jennifer); siblings, Richard Gray, Ernest L. Taylor (Jameka), Storrive Marshall (Ivan); grandchildren, Earnest III, Diaqun, Ebony, Dejaun, Steve, Aaron, Deidre, Derrick Jr.; 25 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The repast will be held immediately after the service: Legends Center 5130 Soutel Drive, Jacksonville, Florida 32208

In the time of personal loss, the beloved family has elected to locally entrust the Ministry of Comfort & Care, along with transitional after-care arrangements to Holmes-Glover-Solomon Funeral Directors, Inc.
