Mr. James Maurice McKinnon, sr. slept away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. He held faithful membership at Greater New Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Reverend Percy Jackson, Sr., pastor. He was employed by the City of Jacksonville Sanitation Department and retired in 1985. He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael McKinnon. He is survived by a loving and devoted spouse, Vicky McKinnon; children, James Jr. (Jalisa), Victoria, Jimyria, Taliyah; special daughter, Aiesha Sharif,; and special son, Jack Dawson; grandchildren, Jade, James III, Jalen, Jordan, Xarrencia, Nehemiah, and Keylani; siblings, Thomas McKinnon, Randy McKinnon (Brandy), Frank McKinnon, Ruby Lavon McKinnon-Williams, Elizabeth McKinnon, Tonya Lopez (Georgito), Debra McKinnon; aunt Diane Miller; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

The visitation will be held in the mortuary on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 2:00PM-5:00PM. The celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 11:00AM in the Greater Refuge Temple, 1317 Rowe Avenue.

In the time of personal loss, the beloved family has elected to locally entrust the Ministry of Comfort & Care, along with transitional after-care arrangements to Holmes-Glover-Solomon Funeral Directors, Inc.
