In humble submission to the will of God, we announce the earthly transition of Josie Dawkins on June 10, 2025.
Visitation will be Monday, June 23, 2025, from 11:00-12:00 noon in the Parkwood Church (7900 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Fl 32211) A celebration of life will be held immediately following the visitation at 12:00 noon at the church. Interment-- Arlington Park Cemetery (6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211).
Mrs. Josie Beatrice Dawkins was born December 1,1940 in Philadelphia, MS to Josephine Moore and Richard Rush. She attended Meridian High School and later Mott Community College, Baker Business School, FSCJ and Jacksonville University. She graduated from Meridian High School and obtained her Florida State Childcare Certification. She worked for General Motors for eight years and the Flint Board of Education for 14 years. She was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL.
Mrs. Josie B. Dawkins was preceded in death by Bennie D. Dawkins, siblings, Malcom, Helen, Martha, Johnnie and Edna and grandson, Theo. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her daughters, Brenda, Linda, Deirdre and LeTasha, grandchildren, Chryslyn, David, Shaniya, and T'yanna, great-grandchildren, Zahid and Leilani, sister, Justine Seales, son-in-law, Schnaider J. Dorisca, Jr., nieces & nephews, William Burnside, Annette & James Seals, Tina Coller, Leisa Clemons-Moses, other relatives and friends.
In the time of personal loss, the beloved family has elected to locally entrust the Ministry of Comfort & Care, along with transitional after-care arrangements to Holmes-Glover-Solomon Funeral Directors, Inc.
