In humble submission to the will of God, we announce the earthly transition of Shirley M. James-Broome on July 26, 2024. Shirley was employed by the Duval County Public School District. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred James and Alfreda Johnson Colson; and her son, Gervon James. She is survived by her children, Natasha Broome and Edward Broome; grandchild, Teniah Broome; sisters, Gloria McKinnon (Gerald), Renise Colson, Eleanor Drake (James), Debra Davis (Robert), and a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 12:00PM in the Rosa Glover Holmes Memorial Chapel. Memorialization by cremation.
The family would like to extend a special expression of gratitude to those who made financial contributions to the final celebration of life for Shirley.
