W-4 Warrant Officer Tommy Edward Henry (Retired) passed away peacefully at Baptist Medical Center Beaches after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Lenox, GA. After graduating as Valedictorian of his high school class, Tommy joined the US Army. He retired in North Carolina after many years of dedicated service to the United States Army and later moved to Jacksonville Florida where he had lived for over 20 years.
He was predeceased by his father, Tom Henry; mother, Sylvia Davis Henry; and sisters, T. Carla Newbern and Jayne A. McCormick whom he referred to as his "best friend."
He leaves to cherish his memories, two children, Robin Rodriguez (Walter) and Major Tommy E. Henry, Jr. (retired) USAR both of Alexandria, VA; two grandchildren, Jordan and Melanie Rodriguez of Alexandria, VA; sister, Dr. Wilma J. Henry of Wesley Chapel, FL; brothers-in-law, Ret. Sr. Chief Petty Officer William A. McCormick, whom he thought of as "the brother he never had" of Jacksonville, FL, and Dennis Newbern of Nashville, TN; former spouse, Oliva Henry of Alexandria, VA; his devoted guardian, Melinda "Mindy" Woosley of East Flat Rock, NC; nieces, including his caretaker, Kimberly A. McCormick of Jacksonville, FL; nephews, cousins, his family at The Gables of Jacksonville (formally Harbor Chase), other relatives, and many friends.
Visitation will be held in the mortuary on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 25, 2024, at 10:00 AM in the Rosa Glover Holmes Memorial Chapel (4334 Brentwood Avenue, Jacksonville, FL.) The interment will follow in the Jacksonville National Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
